Harris Bell Associates - The story so far
Harris Bell Associates can trace their history back to 1950 when the first Harris Estate Agents opened in Bridlington. Selling businesses and homes was very different in an austere post-war environment, however, despite the difficulties the business prospered based around a solid foundation which meant putting the customer first. The second generation of Harris’s took over the business and made further refinements and improvements until 10 years ago the present owner John Harris took up the reigns. Under John’s stewardship the Estate Agency continued to prosper and grow and further consolidated it’s position as one of Bridlington’s leading Property and Business Agents, marketing and selling homes to business and residential clients.
Meanwhile 1990 saw Peter Slack start his career as a Financial Adviser. Peter initially joined Confederation Life and then moved to Sun Life. Peter followed a career in Management and in 1994 was appointed as the Branch Manager responsible for Sun Life's office in Hull. Further promotions followed until Peter was appointed to the position of Regional Sales and Marketing Director for AXA Sun Life. In 2002 Peter decided to revert to the Financial Advice arena and set up a Financial Services business called North Star Financial Solutions which provided Mortgage and Financial Advice. This business prospered as more and more people sought advice resulting from word of mouth recommendations.
In 2004 Harris Estate Agents and North Star Financial Solutions merged with Alan Bell Mortgages to form Harris Bell Associates. The business moved to brand new, bespoke, modern, town centre premises and relocated the Lettings and Property Management side of the business to dedicated offices at 64 Flamborough Rd. in Bridlington. The association with Alen Bell Mortgages was soon dissolved leaving a core business focused on Estate Agency and Financial Services. The business continues a long established tradition and continues to build on values which provide clients with the services they need, when they need them.
In 2006 the business opened a branch at 25 Northway in Scarborough, the first phase of a planned controlled expansion. This allowed the business to market properties from two locations on the East Coast providing clients with a broader coverage of their property. The Financial Services side of the business, by this time had changed to 'Independent' Status and continued to provide Independent Mortgage and Financial Advice. The experience in the Estate Agency market saw Harris Bell increase it's Market share considerably aided by state of the art technology designed to match properties For Sale with Buyers and vica-vers. In other words, no other local Estate Agent offers you more!.
